January 8: Border City
Squares held a class dance at the Mill-A-Round in
Manchester. The 2004 class hosted the dance and the theme
was our Pajama Dance. Jim Wass from the Washington D.C.
area was the caller and due to the bad weather, our cuer
was not able to make it to the dance. We had a little over three squares show up for this dance!! That was pretty good considering the terrible winter weather that we had that day. Jim pitched in and did some rounds as well as some contra dancing to help fill up the night with fun dancing. Heel & Toe raided the dance with one square of dancers and our own club had 20+ dancers in attendance, including all of our current class members. Those who chose to brave the weather were treated to a unique and fun evening of dancing. For those who were wondering about the special Plus level dance we had planned for the afternoon of January 8th, we had to cancel the dance due to the inclement weather. It was decided by the board that the weather was still too nasty in the afternoon to expect dancers to come out, but that the snow was expected to clear up in time for the evening dance. Our next club dance will be on February 12th, and will be hosted by Kathi Butt and Harli Webb. It is a Mainstream dance with two Plus tips. The caller will be Ed Renauld and Eds wife, Corinne, will provide cueing. The theme will be "4 the İ of &127 Dancing". Kathi and Harli always come up with creative themes, so expect the unexpected at this one!! I hope to see a good showing of our club members at this dance and lots of food for our guests as well. Remember that our dances in February and April will be at the Griffin Memorial School on Route 3A in Litchfield. Our March, May, and June dances will be held at the Mill-A-Round in Manchester. 2004-2005 BCS Dances

In February 1974 Border Citys new traveling mascot made its debut at the Snow Ball Dance. Ken and City Knight made this new mascot. It is a large key in the shape of the state of NH. It is still in use today! |
