Club Chair Report Chris
Howard
September 13: In spite of much
lower attendance than hoped for, our first dance of the
season was lots of fun for those who did attend.
Dave Hass did his usual outstanding job of keeping the
dancers on their toes with plenty of "all position"
calls, and he treated us to his rendition of "drinking
wine" which is always fun. Phil Gatchell provided a
good variety of round dances, from rumbas and waltzes to
two-step and cha-cha. A sincere thank you goes to Vivian
and Bill Thompson, Priscilla and Wayne Griffin,
and Kathi Butt for helping set up for this dance. We had 18 members of Border City Squares in attendance, and Harli brought her step daughter, Rhiannon, along to watch. We were able to include her in one of the squares, and perhaps she may come back and dance with us again. Heel and Toe brought 15 dancers for their raid. It is wonderful to have such a supportive club nearby to exchange banners with. In addition we had another 16 dancers from other clubs including Town Travelers, Turkey Town Trotters, Baldwin Apple Squares, Starlight Strollers, and the Wolf Rockers. Bob and Louise Griffin, presidents of EDSARDA, were among those attending. Our Next dance will be on October 11th, and will be hosted by Dave and Mary Raymond. The theme for this Mainstream (plus two plus tips) dance is Halloween, and the caller and cuer will be Kevin Bersing and Corinne Renauld. Costumes are optional [Editor: clothes are not]. If you can help with setup, please plan to be at the Infant Jesus hall at 12:30 that day. PLEASE HELP! We still have two dances this season that are without hosts or themes. The November 8th dance is a Plus dance with Matt Auger calling and Barbara Nutting cueing, and the May 8th dance is a Mainstream dance with Suptei Rogers and Phil Gatchell. These should both be great dances, but it sure would be nice if someone besides board members would give us a hand by hosting these dances! It really isn't all that hard, and there are always plenty of people willing to help with setup and cleanup. 2003-2004 BCS Dances
