Club Chair Report Chris Howard
Our first dance this fall will be on
Saturday, September 13, and I hope everyone will be able
to be with us for the start of the new dance season. This
will be a mainstream dance with two plus tips. The caller
will be Dave Hass and the cuer will be Phil Gatchell. The
theme for the dance will be "Harvest Season,"
and we are asking everyone to consider bringing either fresh
fruits and salads or some other items made from fresh
produce for the food table. If you can help with
setting up the hall, please meet at the Infant Jesus
Church at 12:30 that Saturday. From the schedule below you can see we are still missing a host/hostess for the November and the May dances. If you help us out for either of these dances, please let me know. See you all at the dance! 2002-2003 BCS Dances

Please see the list of Raids and
retrievals contained in this newsletter. Note that the
first raid is coming up very soon for the Wolf Rockers on
September 27, 2003. Since I am getting married that day, I was wondering if someone else would be willing to lead the car pools for the Wolf Rocker raid (9/27), the Concord Coach raid (10/4) and the Square Wheelers raid (10/10). I will be return to duty after the BCS October dance. As always, there is a carpool that leaves the Kiosk at the Nashua Mall, Broad St., Nashua at 7PM for each of the raids and retrievals. The exceptions are the Heel and Toe exchanges. Folks drive themselves to Manchester. Please sign up on Monday nights or call me if you are planning to attend any raids or retrievals ESPECIALLY if you are interested in the carpool. Dances may be cancelled and I cant let you know if you dont let me know youre coming. Have a great September and October!! See you at the middle of October! Summer Dances Known (and suspected) summer dances with information available as of July 22nd (from Harli). [This information should be verified with the Dancer Magazine, the Host Club, or other sources before traveling long distances to a dance which may have been cancelled. (Editor)]

Square Dancers Marry
Skip Guild
Penny and I attended the outdoor wedding of Dennis Marandos and Diane Troyer on Saturday, August 9th. It was a simple but beautiful morning ceremony attended by several of their fellow square dancers (our club caller Patty Greene and her husband Steve, Bob Baker, Bill and Susan Leuci, and Larry Olsen with friend Kathy). Many of the activities like dancing and snacks had a Greek theme. Since they initially met over the airwaves via shortwave radio (Morse code, no less), it was also appropriate the ceremony was at the home of a close ham radio friend of Dennis who lives in Merrimack. The sky was threatening to open up with rain but the sun came out just as the ceremony began and shone brightly on the beaming bride and groom. Dennis and Diane plan to honeymoon in Montreal but will be settling in our local area (I believe Brookline). Diane is still working on square dancing and we hope to see them at our workshops and dances. I think I even talked Dennis sister into taking up square dancing in the fall. (Never stop recruiting). |

Welcome back everyone - new and old!
Border City Squares is 45 years old (or should I say
young?) for as any dancer will tell you dancing keeps a
person young in spirit and in fun! Let's hope that our
new members will discover this fun and help us keep the
tradition of fun and friendship alive and well!
